Two things make it different from a scrolling prompter: - The gaze engine. The script is placed where a speaker's eyes would go for the audience they chose. One person: the line stays with them, with small natural drift. Two people: the script holds at two fixed panels, one by each face, and the live panel changes at a sentence end, so the speaker turns and the words are already there. A room offers Stations and Moving. Stations uses two panels, the active text and a preview, across three positions. Moving lets the reading window travel around the room. In fixed-panel modes the active text holds in place while the speaker reads it. - Voice-following. It follows your voice word by word, waits when you pause, holds your place when you go off script, and resumes when you return to the script. While it holds, it shows the next few words as a pickup cue. It resumes when your speech matches the nearby script again. It does not search the entire script for a return point. Speech recognition runs on the machine. Terera matches microphone input to the script and does not identify speakers. A headset helps keep other voices out of the microphone. Live-meeting behaviour: click-through (the mouse goes through it to the deck beneath), stays on top, works on any screen, freeze, global shortcuts, mirror mode, and on Windows it can be excluded from a screen share. Screen-share hiding depends on the capture method your app uses, so check your sharing preview before a live call. Formatting: bold, italics and four highlight colours from a small toolbar. Import from Word (.docx), .txt or .md, or paste from Word or Google Docs with formatting intact. PDF and older .doc files are not supported. The voice-follow ignores formatting. After a run it shows a short summary of pace, holds and recoveries, stored on the machine only. It is not a recording. ## Who it is for - People who speak live on camera from a Windows computer or a Mac: video calls, webinars, presentations, recorded takes - Presenters with one monitor who want their script over their slides - Speakers who leave the script to answer a question and need their place kept until they return - People whose scripts should stay on their own computer: board papers, legal updates, results rehearsals - Buyers who want to pay once, with no subscription and no account ## Who it is not for - Macs that cannot run macOS 15.5 or later - Phone or tablet users. There is no mobile app - Anyone who needs video recording, editing or captions. Terera records nothing and edits nothing - Voice-following in a language other than English. Manual and timed modes work with any language - Singing. Voice-following does not sync to singing; the timed scroll works for lyrics - Two presenters sharing one script. Two-people mode means two listeners, not two presenters - Anyone who only needs a steady scroll at a set speed ## Works alongside Terera is an overlay, not an integration. It floats over other applications and clicks pass through it to the window beneath. It can float over Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, PowerPoint, a browser or recording software. It installs nothing into those applications and does not connect to them. Screen-share hiding depends on the capture method your app uses, so check your sharing preview before a live call. Terera is not affiliated with or endorsed by the makers of those products. ## Questions people ask Q: What is Terera? A: A teleprompter for Windows 10 and 11 and macOS 15.5 or later that follows your voice and places the script where your eyes should go for one person, two people or a room. Q: Is Terera a voice-activated teleprompter? A: That is a name many people search under. What Terera does: it follows your voice word by word, waits when you pause, holds your place when you go off script, and resumes when you return to the script. Q: Does it work with Zoom, Microsoft Teams or Google Meet? A: It floats over them as a click-through overlay. It is not a plug-in. Screen-share hiding depends on the capture method your app uses, so check your sharing preview before a live call. Q: Can I see my script over PowerPoint while presenting in Microsoft Teams on one monitor? A: On Windows, yes, on one monitor: Terera floats above the slides and clicks pass through to the deck. Screen-share hiding depends on the capture method your app uses, so check your sharing preview before a live call. Q: What happens when I pause or go off script? A: It waits when you pause. When you go off script it holds your place and shows the next few words as a pickup cue. It resumes when your speech matches the nearby script again. Q: Does it work without the internet? A: Speech recognition runs on the user's own computer. The internet is needed for setup, when a speech model of about 190 MB downloads, and for periodic licence checks. A failed connection alone does not lock the user out. Q: Does my script or my voice leave my computer? A: No. Scripts, audio and rehearsal history stay on the computer. The app connects for up to three purposes: the speech model download, starting the free trial (from Terera 2.1.0), and licensing. Q: How much does it cost, and is it a subscription? A: USD 89 once, tax included. No subscription and no account. Three of the buyer's own machines and twelve months of updates; after that the installed version keeps working. Q: How can I find out whether it works for me? A: Start the 14-day free trial: everything included, no card and no account. Use it with your own voice, microphone and calls. After buying, there is a 30-day unconditional refund by email. Q: What happens when the free trial ends? A: The next time Terera opens, it asks for a licence key. A session in progress is never interrupted. Buy a licence, paste the key and carry on; scripts and settings stay as they were. Q: Is there a Mac version? A: Yes. macOS 15.5 or later, on Apple silicon or Intel Macs. One licence covers Windows and Mac. Q: Which languages does voice-following support? A: English. Manual and timed modes work with any language. Q: Does Terera have reviews? A: Not yet. Terera is new and publishes no reviews, ratings or customer logos. Q: Who makes it? A: Terkon Pty Ltd, New South Wales, Australia. The team that builds it answers support@terera.app. ## Lyrics and timed scrolling For lyrics, open Settings → Delivery, turn off Voice-aware pacing and choose a Speed. Press Space to start or pause the steady timed scroll. Voice-following is designed for spoken words and does not sync to singing. ## Privacy and network behaviour Speech recognition runs on the user's own processor. Audio becomes text on the machine and is discarded as it goes. Scripts, formatting and delivery stats stay in the user's profile on the computer. The app connects for up to three purposes: 1. Getting its speech model: about 190 MB downloads from its public repository on huggingface.co during setup. Speech recognition then runs locally. 2. Starting the free trial (from Terera 2.1.0): one short message to terera.app when the free trial starts (and again on a later start only if the first could not connect), carrying a one-way code for the computer (not the code used for licences), the app version and the operating system, so each computer gets one free trial. Kept for 12 months. Script, audio and rehearsal history are not included. The free trial works whether or not it gets through. 3. Licensing: each machine activates with the licensing service (Keygen), followed by periodic licence checks. Script, audio and rehearsal history are not included. A failed network connection alone does not lock the user out. The number of requests can vary during setup and licence validation; these are purposes, not a fixed count of network connections. There is no account to create. The website terera.app sets no cookies of its own and carries no advertising or cross-site trackers. It counts visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies. The one exception is checkout: on /buy and /teams, Paddle (the merchant of record) sets the cookies its payment flow needs. ## Platforms and requirements - Windows 10 or 11 - macOS 15.5 or later, on Apple silicon or Intel Macs; one licence covers both - A microphone; about 190 MB on disk for the speech model; internet access for initial setup and periodic licence checks - Voice-following language: English (manual and timed modes work with any language) ## Price and licence - USD 89, once, tax included: the price shown is the price paid anywhere - Three of the buyer's own machines; reinstalling Terera on the same machine does not use a seat - Twelve months of updates included; when the year ends nothing stops working - No account, no subscription: a licence key is emailed from licence@terera.app a minute or two after you pay and is pasted once into the app. Check the spam folder the first time - Thirty-day unconditional refund by email; a refund ends the licence - Try it with the 14-day free trial; after buying, a 30-day refund ## Honesty notes for anyone citing this site - Terera is new and has no published customer reviews, ratings or logos.
